Similar to NIMONIC alloy 75, NIMONIC 80A Round Bars is a nickel-chromium alloy that has titanium and aluminum additives to make it precipitation-hardenable. At temperatures up to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit, NIMONIC 80A Rods exhibit high tensile and creep-rupture capabilities in addition to good corrosion and oxidation resistance (815 Deg C). These alloys are well-known for performing well at high temperatures with little creep. The alloy has many additives, including titanium, carbon, and aluminum. The NIMONIC alloy was created for the first time in England in 1940. NIMONIC 75, NIMONIC 80A, 81, 86, NIMONIC PE11, and NIMONIC 16 are commercially available NIMONIC alloys. A wrought, age-hardened alloy called NIMONIC alloy 80A is enhanced by the addition of titanium, aluminum, and carbon. High-frequency melting and casting in the air are used to make it. The NIMONIC alloy 75 is comparable to it. It resists oxidation and corrosion well. At 815°C (1500°F), the creep rupture and tensile characteristics are high. It is possible to weld NIMONIC alloy 80A round bars using standard methods and compatible filler metal. Solution treating the metal is a requirement before welding. This alloy will be appropriate for fusion welding using tungsten inert gas welding and metal inert gas welding. Nimonic 80A Round Bars can be hot worked as well as hot forged. They can also easily be cold worked. It is advised to air cool NIMONIC alloy 80A after it has been annealed at 1079 °C (1975 °F) for roughly 8 hours. These NIMONIC Alloy 80A round bars are used for bolts, tube supports in nuclear steam generators, die-casting inserts and cores, and exhaust valves in internal combustion engines in addition to gas turbine components (blades, rings, and discs).
