Hastelloy Nuts are made from a super alloy that has nickel, chromium, and molybdenum as their main ingredients. Other than that the composition has iron, nitrogen, niobium, titanium, carbon, cobalt, tungsten, vanadium, and manganese. Each of the Hastelloy grades has a different proportion of the above-mentioned elements and some elements are not present in a few of the grades. This mix match of different elements gives Hastelloy alloy grades various and specific attribute that is necessary for the specific purpose of use. Mainly these grades can be divided into 2 groups: one that has nickel and molybdenum as their primary ingredient and the other that has nickel, molybdenum, and chromium as their primary ingredient. Out of these two, Ni-Mo-Cr alloy grades are mostly used and are called the C-types.

In comparison to stainless steel alloys, which are strengthened with nickel and chromium, Hastelloy Nuts have an increased percentage of nickel and molybdenum. Molybdenum helps the product to have more strength, electrical conductivity, and toughness. Chromium helps these to be resistant to oxidizing agents and prevent rusting.
